英国ホートン社で1900年初頭に造られたサンダーソン・トロピカル仕様のカメラ（ハーフ・プレート・ヴァージョン＝ほぼ4ｘ5判）を、ほぼ同時期1900年頃に製造された独ゲルツ社ハイパーゴン（パイペルゴン）60mmf22(Stolze絞り48）専用に改造しました。4ｘ5フィルムで35mm換算約15mmの超広角になります。
（ｆ22(Stolze絞り48）が開放値で、絞りはその他にはｆ32（Stolze絞り96）のみです。）

改造の主な点は、
　�@カメラ前部の蛇腹移動用のレール（兼前蓋）を取り外し、蛇腹はハイパーゴン（ハイペルゴン）60mmのバックフォーカス約5ｃｍに固定。
　�Aカメラ後部にジナー社スプリングバックを装着。これにより、4ｘ5だけでなく多種多様な120/220ロールフィルムバックが使用可能となります。
　　当面は、ジナー社のズームバック（6ｘ4.5から6x12cmまで、1枚単位で変更できるロールフィルムバック）を使用します。
　�Bレンズは自作のボードに固定。今回はニスも塗りました。ただ、レンズのフランジがボードからだいぶはみ出します。
　�C焦点はカメラ本体の後部（本体の枠は前後に２分化されている）を前後に移動させることによって近距離から無限遠まで合いますが、ｆ22では
    ほとんど現場で画像の確認は不可能ですので、事前にｆ32にして約1.5mから無限遠までのパンフォーカスにしておきます。
　�Dこのレンズの有名な特徴である『風車」は実用性の観点から取り外してあります。その代替がとして「センターＮＤフィルター」を使用。
　　かなり大口径のフィルターでないと周辺がけられます。私は67/86mmのセンターＮＤフィルターを使用しました。
　�Eこうして不要なものを削ぎ落とした結果、レンズとジナースプリングバックを含めても重要は約1kgと極めて軽量になりました。
　�F昼間でも約1秒から4秒のシャッタースピードですので、三脚が必要です。おすすめはジッツオのトラベラー三脚。これなら散歩でも持って歩けます。


I modified my UK's Houghton's Sanderson Half Plate Tropical Camera(around 1910) specialized for German Goerz Hypergon 60mm f22/32(Stolze number48/96) (around1900).
The angle of view is very wide equals to 15mm in Leica format camera.
(The full aperture is f22(Stolze48) not f4.8 and it has only f32(Stolze96) for the other stop.)

The main points of modification are,
  1/The front cover which contains metal rails for the bellows motion back and forth was removed.
  2/Loaded Sinar Spring Back. It enables to use 120/220 film roll film back. I use Sinar Zoom Back which can flexiblly change format from 6x4.5 to 6x12cm.
  3/Hypergon lens is fixed onto self made lens board. The flange back of the lens is rather bigger than the lens borad.
  4/Focusing can be made by moving the latter part of Sanderson camera body back and forth. However because you can hardly see the projecting imade of the lens on the focusing glass, I closed the aperture into f96 and fixed focus at the point having 1.5m to infinity pan focus.
  5/The famous fan of Hypergon was removed because of its usability and I use Center ND Filter of 67/86mm to reduce the light difference between center part and peripheral part.
  6/The weight of this modified camera is aroung 1kg only including Lens and Sinar Spring Back.
  7/Tripod is necessary because you can have only 1 sec to 4 sec shutter speed even under daylight. I recommend very light weight Gizzo Traveller series.
